Teachings on cleansing prayers for funerals of loved ones:
Pray a protective covering prayer beforehand and a disconnection and cleansing prayer afterwards.
Lord Jesus, we commit _______, his wife _______, and _______'s entire family into Your mighty hands. We commit the entire matter, the process, and every aspect of the funeral to You. Please come and reign in person so that Your name may be exalted. We also pray that You will remember the resolve of _______ and his family. In order to be sanctified and to seek holiness, and not to be defiled or contaminated by the powers of darkness or evil spirits, they seek You with all their hearts, and earnestly seek Your help and guidance.
Thank you, Lord. May your love and presence be among us. Please protect _______ and his family from being tempted during the funeral process. Save them from evil. Please block all the worship rituals and burial rituals that are not in accordance with your will and offend you, such as burning incense and offering sacrifices. Please remove all the temptations that _______ may encounter and the temptations from his family members, save _______ from all evil, and lift _______ up on your rock, higher than the enemies around them. Send angels to set up walls of fire and nets around them. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ will draw the blood line, and the cross will block it in the middle, so that all enemy forces cannot approach and attack. Lord, please use your precious blood to smear, cleanse and cover _______ and his family, and put on the full spiritual armor for them. Before returning home after the funeral, apply the precious blood of Jesus Christ thickly to cleanse and cut off all contamination from death, disease, unclean spirits, powers of darkness, and family evil spirits. Cut them off completely in the name of the Lord!
Pray for the blazing fire of the Holy Spirit to burn and cleanse _______'s hands and feet, cleanse _______'s body and clothes, cleanse _______'s entire mind, use the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to cleanse and cut off all the contamination and filthiness from the enemy power and evil spirits, remove all memories that made _______ feel disgusted, fearful and disgusted during the funeral, and be completely cleansed. Breaking the Prayer of Idol Worship
- Prayer to break the evil spirit of idolatry
Dear Abba Heavenly Father, I repent and acknowledge that before I knew You, my family and ancestors followed China’s traditional culture and customs. On important festivals, such as Tomb-Sweeping Day, Cold Clothes Festival, Menglan Festival, Chinese New Year, weddings, and the anniversary of the death of deceased relatives, we worshiped our ancestors, swept graves, kowtowed, burned incense, burned paper money and gold ingots, etc., or set up altars and ancestral tablets, and offered sacrifices to our ancestors with three kinds of gifts, water, wine, fruits and snacks, and other food and offerings. We even made statues of our ancestors and built ancestral temples, and held ancestral worship ceremonies in the ancestral halls or temples on festivals or the anniversary of the death of our ancestors.
In order to demonstrate the Confucian and Taoist filial piety of respecting the dead and remembering our ancestors, we kowtow, bow, and kneel to our ancestors during sacrifices; we pray to the spirits of our ancestors for peace, blessings, and protection; at funerals we set up mourning halls for the deceased for people to worship, display offerings and sacrifices, light candles and burn incense, and even invite monks and Taoists to chant sutras to pray for the souls to be reborn, as well as perform various rituals of sorcery and witchcraft.
Father, we acknowledge that these customs and behaviors are the sins of worshiping false gods, worshiping the dead, and having fellowship with the dead. They are the sins of communicating with ghosts. They are the sins of allowing evil spirits and sorcery to invade the family. They are the sins of inviting family-based evil spirits to invade ourselves and our descendants. We ask the Lord to forgive and pardon all our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare to break and cancel all the sacrificial and worship ceremonies that I and my family’s ancestors have performed to the tablets, statues, graves, altars, portraits and photos of our ancestors and deceased relatives. The altars that have been set up, the sacrifices, offerings, water and wine that have been offered, the incense burners used, the paper money and gold ingots that have been burned, the candles that have been lit, the incense that has been burned, and the paper offerings that have been burned; every scripture and spell recited by monks, Taoists, nuns, witches and sorcerers, and the wooden fish and bells used when reciting, all filthy ritual instruments, all prayers, wishes, declarations and vows, all bows, kowtows, worships, and kneelings, I now declare them all invalid in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ completely shatters and breaks them, breaks all their power, curses and influence, breaks their invasion, completely uproots them, and binds them in the name of the Lord Jesus!
All the evil spirits, unclean demons, and curses that were invited in due to ignorant and foolish rituals, declarations, and oaths must be completely bound and brought to the feet of the Lord Jesus. The precious blood of the Lord Jesus draws the boundary, and the cross stands in the middle, bearing all these curses, and will no longer affect me and my descendants.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I break and cancel all the covenants made by the power of the underworld, the covenants made with the dead, the idols in temples and ancestral halls, and the dark power behind them because of these rituals, objects, oaths, vows, eulogies, declarations, and vows. I declare them completely broken! Cancelled! On behalf of myself and my ancestors, I confess and repent to God, and pray for complete forgiveness. I declare that all these covenants are completely ineffective, powerless, without power, without status, and without commemoration in the spiritual and material worlds, in our lives, and in our families!
I draw on the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ shed on the cross to completely break, shatter and cancel it! Because of the punishment suffered by the Lord Jesus, I and my descendants have peace, and because of the wounds suffered by the Lord Jesus, I and my descendants have been healed; because the Lord Jesus made a sin offering, a guilt offering and a propitiation for me on the cross, and took on all the curses and deaths for me, my descendants and my family, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Lord Jesus, thank you for forgiving and pardoning all my sins and transgressions, and cleansing me from all unrighteousness. Now, in your forgiveness, I use my will to choose to forgive my ancestors, parents, relatives, and friends, and everyone else who has influenced me to worship ancestors and the dead, and who has taught and influenced me to fall into the traditional Chinese culture and customs that offend God’s words, rituals, and behaviors.
I release each of them into the freedom of my forgiveness, and free them from the debts they owed me, especially the debts of love and righteousness. In the name of Jesus, I command all the powers of death in the underworld, evil spirits, and family evil spirits that my ancestors once invited in, guardian angels, all idols and the dark powers behind them to leave me, my family, and my descendants!
I now declare that I renounce you and give the sovereignty of my life, my family, my clan, and my children to the Lord Jesus Christ. You no longer have any rights, share, or status in the lives of me, my family, my clan, and my descendants! If you continue to harass, disturb, or infringe upon me, it is illegal. In the name of Jesus Christ, I will kill you with the sword of the Holy Spirit! I will burn you with the blazing fire of the Holy Spirit! I pray in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
- Prayer to break the power of idols
In the name of Jesus, I break and cancel all the sacrifices, celebrations and various religious rituals of idolatry that I, my family and my ancestors have performed to idols and ancestors; as well as the altars set up in the rituals, the offerings and sacrifices, the incense burners, ritual instruments, wooden fish and command flags used; the talismans, sachets, ash water, oil money donated, the lots drawn, the candles lit, the incense burned and the lamps lit; the Dharma names, Taoist names, names of idols received, every word and sentence of the scriptures and mantras recited; all the prayers, wishes, declarations, vows, all the kowtows, worships, kneelings, joining of hands and bows, etc.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I declare them all null and void! They can no longer affect me, my family, and my descendants! I also break the covenants and dark powers made by these rituals, objects, prayers, vows, money, altars, idols, and false gods, as well as the enemy behind them, the devil, and declare them completely invalid! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You and admit that I used to follow my family to worship ancestors on some traditional Chinese customs days and festivals, as well as the anniversary of the death of ancestors, and burn paper money, sacrifices, and offerings to deceased relatives. I admit that I participated in it and worshiped the devil out of ignorance. Lord, please forgive my ignorance and stupidity. I used to eat things sacrificed to idols, believing that burning paper money for them would give them money to use in the underworld and bless future generations. I confess and repent to You for believing and following such lies, and ask the precious blood of the Lord Jesus to wipe out and cleanse all my transgressions.
I declare that I renounce the act of offering sacrifices to idols, the act of worshipping the spirits of my ancestors, I renounce them completely, I cut them off completely, and I renounce all things offered to idols. Lord, please forgive me. Not only do I do it myself, I also lead my family and even our children to do it. I not only worship my ancestors, worship the tablets, burn paper money, and eat things offered to idols, I not only do it myself, I also let others do it. Heavenly Father, I ask you to forgive and pardon me.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I revoke and break all worship to Satan. I revoke every dedication made to them. I revoke every covenant made with them. I revoke every altar ever established for them. I revoke every word, phrase, praise and prayer ever spoken to them. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I also do not accept any blessing, any healing, any power that comes from Satan. I reject them all.
I refuse to accept any benefit from Satan. I only want the blessing from the Lord Jesus so that I belong to the Lord alone. I renounce all the works of Satan in my life. I disagree with you. Now Satan, you must leave me and go away.
Jesus Christ sets me free. The precious blood of Jesus once again covers and cleanses me. I pray that the precious blood of Jesus will completely redeem me from these sins and the act of ancestor worship at this moment. I pray that the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ will stand between me and our family, between me and the ancestors of all generations whom I have worshiped.
Lord Jesus, I invite you to break every ungodly soul tie, spirit tie, and body tie that was created during these rituals. Lord Jesus, please break and remove them for us. I only want a good connection with the Lord Jesus. All the connection portals, spiritual channels, secret passages, and back doors brought by Satan are closed in the name of Jesus! Thank you Lord, thank you Lord for hearing my prayers. It is the holy name of Jesus Christ, Amen! Hallelujah!
