Sustain me with cakes of raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am lovesick. (Song 2:5)

Raisins and apples bring life and vitality to people. God gives people breath, so that they can have life; but evil spirits take away people's life, vitality, and breath, causing people to breathe in diseases, weaknesses, viruses, and miasma. Not all diseases come from evil spirits, but when Jesus healed certain diseases (such as deafness, epilepsy, and hunchback), he rebuked the demons of disease to go out.

Spirit of infirmity:

Concept:

Evil spirits that cause abnormal symptoms, signs, and behaviors in people tend to be inherited in a family, passed down from one generation to the next. However, there are also a few who are controlled because of personal factors or deviant behaviors, such as involvement in idolatry and fornication. A person’s spirit, soul, and body may all be controlled.

Performance:

Various physical illnesses, sorrow, doubt, guilt, shame, accusations, uncontrollable negative thoughts in the soul, mental disorders and confusion caused by demon possession in the spirit, etc.

Causes of the disease:

1. Not fearing God and worshipping idols

 “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues—great and prolonged plagues—and serious and prolonged sicknesses. Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed. (Deuteronomy 28:58-61 NKJV)

The prophet Elijah sent a letter to Jehoram saying:

Thus says the Lord God of your father David:

Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah, but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot like the harlotry of the house of Ahab, and also have killed your brothers, those of your father’s household, who were better than yourself, behold, the Lord will strike your people with a serious affliction—your children, your wives, and all your possessions; and you will become very sick with a disease of your intestines, until your intestines come out by reason of the sickness, day by day." (2 Chronicles 21:12-15 NKJV)

After these things, the Lord caused an incurable disease in Joram's intestines. He lingered there for two years, and his intestines fell out. He died of his disease. His people did not make any burnt offerings for him, as they had done for his ancestors. (2 Chronicles 18-19 NKJV)

2. Family Curse

So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die.” Then Nathan departed to his house. (2 Samuel 12:13-15 NIV)

Afterward, when David heard it, he said, “My kingdom and I are guiltless before the Lord forever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner. Let it rest on the head of Joab and on all his father’s house; and let there never fail to be in the house of Joab one who has a discharge or is a leper, who leans on a staff or falls by the sword, or who lacks bread (2 Samuel 3:28-29 NKJV)

3. Slandering leaders and spiritual authorities

Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?” So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed.  And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper. (Numbers 12:6-10 NKJV)

4. Taking God’s sacrifices and despising God

Then a man of God came to Eli and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Did I not clearly reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh’s house?  Did I not choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod before Me? And did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire? Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel My people?’ Therefore the Lord God of Israel says: ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the Lord says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, so that there will not be an old man in your house.  And you will see an enemy in My dwelling place, despite all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower (prime of life) of their age. (1 Samuel 2:27-33 NKJV)

5. Demon Possession

And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying,  “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. (Matthew 17:14-18 NIV)

And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. (Luke 13:11-13 NKJV)

6. Personal or ancestral greed for money

Then he said to him, “Did not my heart go with you when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? Is it time to receive money and to receive clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants?  Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever.” And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow. (2 Kings 5:26-27 NKJV)

Cut off and break:

In the name of Jesus Christ, disconnect and break the following forces that cause disease:

1. Not fearing God, worshipping idols
2. Family Curse
3. Slandering leaders and spiritual authorities
4. Taking God's Sacrifice and Despising God
5. Demon Possessed
6. Personal or ancestral greed for money

Abba Father, dear Lord Jesus Christ, mighty Holy Spirit, Triune God, today I come before You and confess and repent for myself and my family members who have been contaminated and controlled by the spirit of sickness. I acknowledge and want to break and forsake the sins committed by myself and my ancestors, as well as my agreement with the devil’s lies, some wrong belief systems and the resulting behaviors.

Behavioral Breakthrough: The Spirit of Disease

1. The sin of violating spiritual laws and not obeying God’s laws and regulations:

For details, please refer to Deuteronomy 27-28, etc. if you or your ancestors made idols, committed incest, shed innocent blood, made critical judgments, cursed yourself or others, etc.

2. Crimes committed at the soul level:

Crimes of emotion, mood, memory, imagination, willpower, and thinking, including bitterness, unforgiveness, complaining, and fantasy (sisters watching romance dramas, brothers playing games), Galatians 5:19, etc.

3. Follow the customs of this world and obey the prince of the power of the air:

Oneself or one's ancestors worship celestial phenomena, offer sacrifices to ancestors, worship the land, etc., believe in various schools of thought (atheism, materialism, rationality, logic, philosophy, religious rules and rituals, etc.), engage in premarital sex, homosexuality, extramarital affairs, worship folk idols, lead people in idolatry, and compromise with the customs of the world.

4. No fear of God:

Stealing God’s sacrifices and glory, slandering and suppressing leaders and spiritual authority, instigating spiritual authority, and creating division.

5. Earning and coveting unjust money:

Taking advantage of one's position to collect ill-gotten gains, commit fraud, etc.

6. Not engaging in spiritual warfare, service, etc. in God’s will and thus being attacked.
